Evaluation of the relationship between our lifestyles
and the development of Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

As part of its “Paroles de lauréats” series, the health program of AXA Mutuals’ sponsorship created a video featuring Bénédicte Merle, the project manager of Macu-Life.
In the video, the researcher presents the specific features of this innovative project, the expected impacts, and also explains why the support from this sponsor is important.

AMD (age-related macular degeneration) is a chronic condition affecting the central area of the retina.
The Macu-Life project focuses on studying the relationships between our lifestyles and the development of this disease, with a particular interest in nutrition, physical activity, smoking, and metabolic factors.

The aim of Macu-Life is to evaluate the associations between lifetime exposures and AMD, with a particular interest in smoking, physical activity, and nutritional and metabolic exposures.
