The « Graduate School of Digital Public Health » of ISPED and BPH awarded a PIA3 grant!

The project of a « Graduate School of Digital Public Health » conceived by the Bordeaux School of Public Health (ISPED) and the Bordeaux Population Health research center (BPH) has been awarded the third French Investments for the Future Programme (Programme d’Investissements d’Avenir, PIA3).
The University of Bordeaux endorses 3 of the total 29 selected projects.

The Graduate School proposed by ISPED and BPH, directed by Pr. Rodolphe Thiebaut, is based on the digital innovation brought by big data and connected devices for population health, as well as on the crucial current need to train in this domain future experts and leaders through a modular and multidisciplinary teaching approach.

The Graduate School of Digital Public Health envisages the creation of a new Master of Science, a Doctoral Programme and a novel professional certification programme on connected devices and e-Health. Innovative training methodologies will be employed, and courses will be delivered in English.

191 projects were submitted, 29 were selected and 336 million euros will be allocated by the PIA3 in collaboration with the national Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. This third Investments for the Future Programme was announced by the French government in June 2016 and aims to create in France several Graduate Schools following the Anglo-Saxon example. 

The success of this project relies on the mobilisation of the research and teaching forces of ISPED and BPH as well as on the association of several research tools like the i-Share cohort, the Labex Vaccine Research Institute and the CIC-EC platform. The support of the direction of the University of Bordeaux and of the IdEx (the University of Bordeaux Initiative of Excellence) has contributed to the valorisation of this Graduate School.

With the Graduate School of Digital Public Health, ISPED and BPH reinforce their ambition of excellence by answering the needs of students, health systems and populations. This promising project backed by a strong network brings a new, more international and highly-connected vision of public health in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
