Stéphanie Debette appointed to the french Academy of Sciences and appointed Director of the Paris Brain Institute
RetourStéphanie Debette, former director of the BPH, has just been appointed to the French Academy of Sciences, crowning an already outstanding career as an eminent neurologist and epidemiologist. This distinction is accompanied by another appointment: she will become director of the Paris Brain Institute from January 2025.
Stéphanie Debette, Director of the Vascular Brain Health Institute VBHI and recent winner of the prestigious Inserm Grand Prix 2024, is continuing her remarkable career, which will be marked in January 2025 by her new role as Director of the Brain Institute at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris.
She will also be co-directing the ICM’s ‘Cerebral small vessel disease and neurodegeneration’ scientific team.
Her appointment as Director of the Paris Brain Institute is a further opportunity to promote excellent research about the impact of vascular factors on neurodegenerative diseases and the continuum between rare and multifactorial genetic forms of these diseases.
This new position will allow her to develop new and exciting synergies between the highly complementary expertise of the Bordeaux and
Paris IHUs in brain diseases.
In December 2024, Stéphanie Debette was elected to the French Academy of Sciences, marking an important milestone in her already remarkable career. Her election to this prestigious institution, founded in 1666, underlines once again the importance of her scientific contributions.
