Launch of the France One & Global Health (FrOGH) academic network
Retour
Expertise in global health and “One Health” already exists in France, but is dispersed and not very visible. To remedy this, an initiative bringing together 31 academic organisations has been launched: France One & Global Health (FrOGH). The aim is to make these skills more visible and to optimise the actions carried out in France
There is a great expertise in global health and “One Health” in France, particularly in the academic world, but at this stage it is dispersed and difficult to understand.
For a number of years, France has been developing an international policy on these issues, and must take the support of its institutions such as ministries, agencies and civil society, as well as its academic organisations such as universities, institutes, schools, joint research units or teams, foundations, and so on.
With this idea in mind, an initiative by teams from GHiGS/ISPED (Bordeaux), VetAgro Sup (Lyon) and EHESP (Rennes) led to the formation of an association on 16 December 2024 between 31 French academic organisations spread across a dozen cities in metropolitan and overseas France, including eight research teams affiliated to the IRD.

The aim is to make the training, research and expertise offers visible and synergistic, by being a strong advocacy force, making proposals and taking action with the national authorities and other French, French-speaking and international partners.
In this context, the FrOGH network’s 2025 action programme aims to improve the visibility and optimise the actions carried out by French teachers and researchers in global health and ‘One Health’.
The BPH’s GHiGS team is also involved in the design of the IRD’s global health roadmap, under the leadership of Renaud Becquet, DR Inserm, member of Inserm’s Scientific Council.
