The Orchidée project (Organisation of a Network of Hospitals Involved in Epidemiological Surveillance and Response to Outbreaks) was launched in october 2024.
It is coordinated by Santé publique France and funded as part of the EU4Health programme to prepare the European Union’s healthcare systems to face future threats.
Based on a One Health approach, EU4Health is a funding programme for the period 2021-2027. It deploys an investment of over 5 billions euros to improve health across the European Union and protect citizens against cross-border health threats.
The project is based on a consortium of national university hospitals, the Health Data Hub, the University of Bordeaux and the School of Advanced Studies in Public Health.
This collaboration between institutions will use a multidisciplinary approach to use hospital data to detect emerging health threats more quickly.
The aim is to help anticipate and respond to future health challenges, strengthen disease prevention and epidemiological vigilance in France, while contributing to the digital development of healthcare systems.
