Emmanuel Lagarde, President of the New Expert Committee at the Conseil National de Sécurité Routière (CNSR)

Emmanuel Lagarde, Research Director at Inserm in epidemiology within the AHeAD team, has taken the presidency of the new expert committee at the Conseil National de Sécurité Routière (CNSR).

Following the call for applications launched on December 4, 2023, and the selection jury’s decision, the Interministerial Delegate for Road Safety, Florence Guillaume, signed the appointment decree for the members of the new expert committee at the Conseil National de Sécurité Routière. This scientific and technical body, composed of 15 qualified members, will be chaired by Emmanuel Lagarde (INSERM) and assisted by Caroline Deck (University of Strasbourg) and Benoît Hiron (Cerema).

Emmanuel Lagarde has been working since 2006 on public health trauma issues, particularly on road accidents. His work also focuses on domestic accidents (he coordinates the MAVIE observatory) and more recently on emergency care.

The Conseil National de Sécurité Routière (CNSR) brings together the main stakeholders in road safety, with their respective skills and perspectives, so they can debate, exchange ideas, and reflect to formulate concrete proposals for the Government to reverse the trend of road mortality. The expert committee, attached to the CNSR, issues opinions and recommendations on proposed strategies and can suggest study topics that should be undertaken on emerging or insufficiently documented issues.
