Virgilio Hernandez-Ruiz joined the Lancet Commission on “HIV and Aging

This Commission relies on a working group composed of international experts in medicine, public health, geriatrics, epidemiology, and social sciences, aiming at analyzing the medical, social, and economic challenges posed by the aging of people living with HIV in order to promote appropriate healthcare and a better quality of life for these individuals, while raising awareness among policymakers and communities about these emerging issues.

In November 2023,Virgilio Hernandez-Ruiz defended his doctoral thesis in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology at the University of Bordeaux.

His research focused on Risk factors for cognitive and functional decline in elderly people living with HIV and other infectious diseases , under the supervision of Prof. Hélène Amieva.
