The Memento national cohort, which studies Alzheimer’s disease, has been renewed for the period 2025-2029 thanks to a favourable evaluation by the French National Research Agency (ANR) in 2024. This will enable this longitudinal study to be continued in order to gain a deeper understanding of the disease and develop new therapeutic strategies

The Memento national cohort was renewed for the period 2025-2029 following a favourable evaluation by an international jury of the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) in 2024.

This renewal is part of France 2030’s 100 million euro “Research programmes in the humanities and social sciences” project, and will enable this longitudinal study to be continued.

The aim of this project is to strengthen the humanities and social sciences so that they can take part in ambitious scientific programmes around priority themes of major interest.

Launched in 2012, the Memento cohort (deterMinants and Evolution of AlzheiMer’s disEase aNd relaTed disOrders) brings together 2,300 people in Memory Resource and Research Centres (CMRR) across France.

These participants, who were initially consulted for minor memory disorders but were not diagnosed with any disease, received rigorous medical follow-up every six months, including clinical assessments, neuropsychological tests, brain imaging examinations and biological samples.

These data constitute a unique resource for the study of Alzheimer’s disease, providing a deeper understanding of the processes of onset and evolution of the disease over time and offering new prospects for the development of treatments and preventive strategies against Alzheimer’s disease.
