2025 doctoral students ceremony

On 11 April 2025, the 6th ceremony for doctoral students from the 8 doctoral schools at the University of Bordeaux was held at the Pin Galant.
Among the 290 new graduates, more than 30 doctoral students worked on their thesis within the BPH research teams

Hosted by Mickaël Choisi from the University of Bordeaux’s Communications Department, the ceremony brought together the 290 new PhDs who defended their thesis in 2024, and their families.

The ceremony opened with speeches by Dean Lewis, President of the University of Bordeaux, and Roger Marthan, Director of the Doctoral School.

Célia Pelluet is a doctor in quantum physics and an engineer in optics and quantum sensors at CNES Toulouse, but she is also a stand-up comedian. She gave a humorous description of the daily life of a doctoral student during his thesis, and discussed the place of women in science.

Then, throughout the evening, doctoral students from the various doctoral schools were invited on stage to share their experiences, as well as those of their family members and supervisors.

Finally, in the pavilion there was an exhibition by the designer Franck Tallon, inspired by the work of doctoral theses defended over the last 10 years.
